There are two distinct options for fitting a shower set:

A. Your pipe work remains inside the wall and the hose connects to the internal pipe work.

In this instance, the working part of the mixer or thermostatic mixer, such as the ibox universal, is installed internally in the wall and the water inlet pipes connect to this. The mixer is then installed into the concealed working part. This provides a flush surface finish and allows the mixer to be as far away from the shower, within reason, as you wish. These mixers are described as "- concealed" on the website. As the shower hose needs to connect to the internal pipe work, a wall outlet is required for concealed fitting. A wall outlet is simply a small disc or block that fixes to the wall, into which the shower hose slots. The water outlet pipe then connects to this through the wall.

B. The pipe work exits the wall and the hose fits directly to the mixer.

There are generally no concealed parts to this type of mixer or thermostatic mixer. The pipes exit the wall and connect directly to the mixer. The shower hose then connects directly to the mixer or thermostatic mixer. This is a very simple option, but of course the shower hose needs to reach the mixer so the pipework should exit reasonably close to where the shower is being placed. The hose length for these shower sets is 1.6m, which should be measured from the height of the handshower position when fitted.
